I met Hilary outside at around 3:40 and we started our walk to Jersey Boys. Wait, I guess I should fill everyone in on a tid bit of information regarding Hil! We have been best friends since we were 6 and we live two houses away from each other. Our birthdays are a day apart and we were attached at the hip until I moved to Georgia when I was 10. We actually stayed best friends for the next 13 years even though we were states apart (visiting often helped) and we remain best friends today! One of the best thing about Hilary is that she loves food just as much as I do, so when the two of us decide that we will spend our Friday indulging and having a good time…that’s exactly what we do 🙂
Ok, back to the walk. We didn’t check the time when we left the house but we guesstimated that it took about 30-40 minutes to get there. I’m not sure if it was because of the walk or just because Hil had talked it up to me, but my first beer was very delicious. We both had the Leinenkugal Summer Shandy and it was perfect…not too carbonated, not too sweet, and perfect for the summer. We decided on the Asian Calamari appetizer to split and it was definitely a wise choice. These suckers were t-a-s-t-y!
We both had one more beer and decided it was time to go home. On our walk back we talked about possibly going out, but once we got home we decided that a girls night in would be much more fun. We went to the store and picked up all the fixings for Sangria…mmm!
- unsweetened pineapple chunks in their own juice
- red wine (we didn’t actually buy this, it was already in my house)
- triple sec (only 1/4 c)
- lemon/lime club soda
We put all the ingredients together in a pitcher, added a few frozen cherries, and let it sit and marinate for a little while. I am not sure why this font just got so big but I’m just going to roll with it. We then chose our movie, got our snacks ready, and got comfy. Sometimes being lazy and staying in with your best friend is the perfect way to spend a Friday.
